Introducing new technologies in lubricants: a rollercoaster if you're not a major.

As an outsider, try to introduce a new technology into the land of lubricants and you are met with statements like "we've seen that pass by 100 times already" and "why don't the oil Majors have this?" Those statements are not entirely unjustified, as many preparations (usually not in the form of a certified end product) have passed by. Teflon, ceramics, fake nanotechnology etc etc. In the form of a certified end product produced under API licence and in accordance with the requirements of motor etc manufacturers, there has been little new under the sun for the past 20 years.

Yet over 20 years ago, there were scientists from the field of quantum mechanics who managed to bend the elongated structure of a hydrocarbon chain into a spherical structure, making the oil molecule many times stronger than in its original form. Publications from several US universities suggest that this transformation would be the egg of Columbus in the quest to reduce friction and thus wear. However, they conclude that they have " the faintest" as to how this should be done.

DEX QM technology has mastered this process of transforming the oil molecule and Dex Oil uses it to make certified end products (lubricants and soon also greases and plastics).

The introduction of this technology has proved to be a rollercoaster, despite the many very positive results at recognised institutes. The stories potential customers had encountered with other products in the past made field tests almost impossible. Finally, in 2017, the owners of a large fishing cutter were found willing to do a test with the main engine. This was offset by a guarantee in private from Dex Oil's ceo regarding towing, lay days, repairs and lost profits. Either you believe in your product or you don't. Because the test turned out to be a great success, more potential customers could be convinced to test the oils based on that success. Because fortunately, that's how it works again. No one often wants to be the first. Most of these tests involved equipment for which no single oil was satisfactory, i.e. problem cases. After those tests had also been successfully completed, a strategic choice was made for shipping. In both inland and maritime navigation, the advantages are immediately and unmistakably visible. The long and difficult introduction of DEX QM technology has come to an end after a long time.
It was a roller coaster for good reason but DexOil is now firmly on track.
